Nefeli Papadakis Continues her Path Towards the 2020 Summer Olympic Games at the Paris Grand Slam

Menomonee Judo's Nefeli Papadakis competed at the Paris Grand Slam, one of the largest and most prestigious Judo tournaments in the world. The event draws over 13,000 Judo crazed spectators on a daily basis. Nefeli, currently ranked #27 in the world in the 78kg division, was looking to solidify her spot on Team USA at the Olympic Games this summer in Tokyo, Japan. She would be the first Olympian from the dojo. Menomonee Judo had two Paralympians at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, Sarah Chung (7th in the +70kg division) and Antonio Tenorio (Silver Medal in the 100kg division). Unfortunately Nefeli was matched first with two time Olympic medalist (and World Champion) and French superstar, Audrey Tcheumeo. After a very competitive and tense match, Nefeli ended up on the short end, losing by a half point. In spite of the loss, she’s still in a great position to qualify for the Summer Olympic Games. Nefeli next competes at the Grand Prix in Rabat, Morocco next.
