Natalija Stanojevic Qualifies for TWO World Teams at the Youth National Championships!

At the USA Judo Youth National Championships in Colorado Springs…

  • Natalija Stanojevic’s historic weekend headlined another extremely solid performance by Menomonee Judo, at a high level tournament. Nine members of the dojo traveled to Colorado Springs, where they competed at the USA Judo Youth National Championships.

  • All nine athletes were in divisions where World Team spots were being decided (the Cadet World Team for athletes under the age of 18 and the Junior World Team for athletes under the age of 21). The competition was fierce, but so were the Menomonee Judo players.

  • While we congratulate all of our players, we’d be remiss if we didn’t make special mention of Natalija and her accomplishments. Natalija Stanojevic not only took Gold Medals in both of her divisions (Cadet +70kg and IJF 78kg), she earned coveted spots on four major, international teams in the process! She will be representing both Team USA and Menomonee Judo at the 2019 Cadet World Championships (September, Kazakhstan), the Junior World Championships (October, Morocco) and the Cadet and Junior Pan American Championships (July, Colombia), where she will compete in both age groups. These are already Natalija's second and third World Team spots, after making the 2018 Junior World Team (Nassau, Bahamas). Not bad for a 15 year old!

  • Max Antoniou and Manny Rosenkranz both came close to making World Teams, by taking home Bronze Medals in 66kg divisions. Max took 3rd in the IJF 66kg, while Manny took 3rd in the Cadet 66kg division, which happened to be the strongest division in the entire tournament. Manny beat Max in Golden Score (overtime) to earn the Bronze on day two. Both boys fought extremely hard and well throughout the weekend.

  • Mikey, Adam, Alice, Lorenzo, Elwyn and Gabe all won matches and were in the mix for medals until late in their respective divisions.

  • We're proud of each and every player, not only for their efforts on the mat in Colorado, but also for the way they prepared themselves to be at their best on competition day.

Way to go Natalija and the entire MJC crew!
